My 2 Favorite Drivers!

Here is a shot of CVD and Jason Hamilton coming off turn 4 at the seasons finale at Bridgeport! Craig went on to win the race while Jason finished in the runner-up position!
(Dont forget, you can click on the pic to enlarge it!)

Mr Modified Strikes Again!

This pic is from Hershey! We went and checked out the Christmas stuff at Hershey Park yesterday. They gave you these glasses went you went on a 2 mile drive in your car looking at millions of Christmas lights! I thought you would enjoy a pic of Mr. Modified in action! Steve also went to Kreitz's flea maket yesterday and talked to Kenny Gilmore for a while! Kenny was telling him that the BPG car he drove in the 6er 2 years ago when he finished 3rd was unreal! He said the motor power was about the same, but the car twisted and gripped the track better than ANY car he had ever driven! When Kenny asked why this was, The Finch who stole Christmas told him that he had a titanium axle and that made the difference! Jeeeez...wonder what that cost?

NAME THOSE DRIVERS!

Can you name both of these drivers here at Penn National Speedway? Fairly easy! Man, I remember this two cars very well! I sure wish Penn National was still around. I can remember driving home from that place on a sunday night just trying to keep my eyes open, stickin' my head out of the window so I didnt fall asleep! PRICELESS!

The end of an era!

Steve has finally cashed in his chips on competing in the 270 micro wars! Enough is enough! He has sold the car and his enclosed trailer in record time! He made out real well and still has motors to sell! I say, any car you race on dirt you shouldnt have to shift going into and out of the turns!! Now he has plenty of cash to get that modified at Grandview going! (a man can dream) That would be really cool being in the pits every week though! It would be hard not seeing the action and having some beers & shots but, I think I could manage! Oh well, we'll see what happens with Steves racing career next? He might have a shot at running a 600. He also got an offer to run Frank Venezia's sportsman on practice day at Orange County next spring! Maybe that will get him going! Without alot of help it is a tough deal though!

FRANK COZZE's Time Trial at TOTH!

Here is Frank Cozze lightin' up "THE HILL" during time trials at a Thunder on the Hill show! If you crank the volume you can hear that Frank doesnt even lift! There arent many drivers who dont lift off the loud peddle! The only other one that comes to mind is Duane Howard! Of course you need heavy track conditions...but it is still awesome! He has always been a balls out type of driver! This year finally paid off for him at the Moody Mile!

Name that Driver!

Name that driver! Not actively running the Pennsy tracks, but still running weekly! This guy did show up at the Coalcracker this year! He grew up right down the street from me when I was younger! A LONG time ago! Here he is motoring through turns 3 & 4 at Penn National Speedway!

HOPE?

Man, just when you expect the worst, you get some redemption! That was a SWEET game! Parody is a killer! I am back on the wagon after that one! Talk about a great game from McNabb & Westbrook! Also, I wonder how Arizona may be imposters with that 7-5 record? That division they are in is pathetic!! Oh well, a win is a win and I'll take it! We may need some help moving on to the promised land, but I'm not giving up just yet! Maybe I should post that picture of Andy every week if we get results like that!

Doug Hoffman...357?

Newest rumor on SJDR has Doug Hoffman in the Norm Hansell's 357! I had thought that Doug Hoffman had turned down Norm stating the 357 wasnt a quality ride? Others have him in the car next year at Grandview & Big Diamond? I would love to add Doug to the Grandview weekly grind!
I would also rather see Jason Hamilton in the ride with some fear that Norm is a moody, grouchy old S.O.B that it might cause friction between Norm & Jason! I dont want to see Jason have to put up with that, but it is a ride with not much out of pocket expense!! We shall see!

TODAYS TURKEY

Well I hope the Big Guy Andy Reid doesnt end up being todays turkey along with the rest of the Eagles! A loss tonite could bring and end of a great era of the Big Guy and Donavan McNabb!

A THROWBACK TO 2007

Here we are at Rolling Wheels in 2007! That night we didnt spend half the night in the parking lot but high atop the bleacher area on the roof! A night to remember! Getting free salt potatoes, eating dough, drinking beers, getting my pic taken with Jessica Zemken, talking to Danny Erb, Kyle Weiss, Dennis Bailey, Bobby Trapper and Danny Serrano! Good Times!

Name the people & car!

OK, 1st name the 2 people on stage! Then who drove the car in the picture? Pretty easy! Bonus: name the year of this THP Freedom 76?

RYAN GODOWN

Here's a shot of Ryan Godown the "RINGOES ROCKET" at Super Dirt Week! I had a good talk with Johnny Rea at Syracuse. He is a hellava nice guy! I asked him if Ryan and himself were returning to Grandview? He said he would like too, but they have not sat down and talked at that point yet. I did ask Ryan thru-out the fall several times at Grandview and also at Syracuse. Ryan said he did have fun at Grandview this season but his ultimate answer was, "We'll see, not sure at this time". I personally hope he returns to the HILL in 2009! I fear 1 win was not enough and the rough and tumble style of racing may send him back to New Egypt? But, an invader his 1st year at the track taking home 3rd in points is one hellava accomplishment!

126 UPDATE!

For 2009, the 126 Glen Hyneman team will only be running some select races. They have about 18 races penciled in as of now! Glen hates running Grandview & Big Diamond! SKIRT! Steve (Mr. Modified) got this info from a very involved crew member of the 126!

HOW MANY CAN YOU NAME?

Click on the pic to get a closer look! I know its before your time, but see who you know? The year was 1985 at Big Diamond!
COME ON THERE AT LEAST 2 MORE YOU GUYS CAN NAME!

CLIFF!

This is the front of Cliff Quinn's truck! Pretty cool!

NAME THAT DRIVER!

OK Eric! Your told me to put up a driver & car when you were actually going to the races! This one should be pretty easy! I like how you called it the "FISH HOOK"!

Pauchy at Georgetown!

Billy "THE KID" Pauch won the last dirt race of the season for the mighty modifieds! It sure didnt take him long to get to victory lane!
Who will be in the potent Hyneman 126 at Bridgeport next season?
Will it be Pauchy? Pauchy already does have quality rides with Kevin Bifulco in the 1 car and the 1w owned by Will Brown! We shall see?

BEAGLES!

This team is really becoming hard to watch! Benching McNabb may be the worse move of the year! His display today WAS pathetic! Kolb's display was just as pathetic! Andy Reid has lost control of this team and it is time for him to move on! Our QB's confidence is now in the crapper with the rest of the team!

Night...Night get the light on this season!

NOW THIS IS A FREAKIN' FUNNY CLIP FROM BDR

Who's the Driver of this Sally looking car?

This one of the craziest looking cars ever! Not only a bad body style, but bad colors! This guy drove many different styles of the famous John Zemaitas machines! I can remember John Zemaitas himself ran a small block when they were 1st getting into the sport! Of course they went on to have numerous sprint cars with drivers like Billy Pauch, Kevin Gobrecht and the last was Jeff Sheppard!

JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THE PIX POSTED CAN BE ENLARGED IF YOU CLICK ON THEM!

ERIC'S LOOK-A-LIKE!

I was making a roster move in my fantasy hockey league and was looking for a defenseman and came upon Eric! HOLY CRAP! Joni Pitkanan and Eric could be twins! Now thats pretty cool! Eric, maybe you could hit him up for some cash for season tickets to "THE HILL" next year!

THIS COOLER REALLY GOT THE "WHEELS ROLLING"

We got to Rolling Wheels around 5:30! We went in and secured some seats and returned to the parking lot! Had a few beers and proceded to drink a half-gallon of Kamakaze's! We did not see a race till at least 9:00! For some reason we were fine with that? I guess the vodka kicked in? Man, that is what I call extended tailgating! That was one "awesome" time! Not sure how we made it back to the hotel?

2008 GRANDVIEW CHAMPIONS!

Here are the Rogers with this years Champions Jeff Strunk & Chuck Schutz!

DIRTCAR BANQUET

Billy Decker aka...the Thrilla from Unadilla took home the cash and trophy for this seasons DIRTcar Champ!

Stu & JZ

Looks like Stu is back in action with JZ! Here they are at a racing banquet! Doubt we'll ever see Stu at "THE HILL" again unless he shows up for the Traffic Jam! We have a better shot at seeing JZ!

As read on the Wago Blog:

It was recently announced that Tim Fuller won't return to the John Lazore Racing #19 big block modified, we've recently learned that Jessica Zemken will run the big block at Volusia in February. Zemken drove for Lazore in the second half of 2008 after she left the LaSalle Motorsports team.

Grandview Year in Review 2008

Rocket Man Rahmer!

This is the "HOT ROD" that Fast Freddie drove when the bounty was put up to try and beat him! Freddie totally dominated in this Hansell ride!
Someone eventually did beat him but I forget who it was?

Name That Driver!

Here we are at the awesome Penn National Speedway! Love those drag tires! No clue for this HOTSHOE! This should be an easy one!

Jeff Strunk

Brett Deyo wrote an excellent article for the Reading Eagle! Here are some of Jeff's comments!
Jeff Strunk has found his new home!
The Mohnton driver replaces Shawn Reimert of Oley, who had been the team's driver for the past two seasons in the No. 41.Strunk, 40, hopes to bring success and a higher profile to the Gagliardo effort, a low-key team yet to win a feature event."I've been to the shop and was taken back by their inventory," Strunk said. "The potential for a great team is in place there."Strunk and Gagliardo are still working out the details of their plans - such as engine and chassis builder - but it is certain Gagliardo will provide the backing necessary for Strunk to retain his status as a full-time dirt modified racer."If I can run 60 or 70 races out of the same shop, that's awesome," Strunk said. "I'll probably run a schedule similar to what I've done in the past. We'll do some traveling, and there is opportunity for some big-block stuff."

Toby readies himself at Syracuse!

Toby Tobias Jr was a late addition to the Rite-Aid 200 line-up when Vince Gagliardo Jr gave up the ride for Toby! Typical Toby was putting on a show early on till the car developed problems and had to drop out! Hopefully we see Toby again next year in the 66 as a teammate to Jeff Strunk in the 41 at the Moody Mile!

The Real Roof!

Here ya go! This is the actual roof! We bungee corded that sucker down with 3 cords and due to the wind it was blowing all over the place! Eric is somehow going to try and get Duane to autograph it! 1st the Von Dohren farm...now the Howard farm! Eric, your really covering those Oley hotshoe farms! Next you'll be having a cold one with Rosie Reimert! YIKES!

Name that Driver!

I saw this guy get his 1st win ever at Grandview Speedway! This guy & Tom Mayberry were rookies that season and both got their first wins at the age of 16. This car he drove later in his career at Big Diamond! The Burns & Yost car had many drivers through the years, and was a top notch ride! Can you name this driver and his car number when he drove to victory lane the 1st time? Bonus: what cartoon character always graced the car? It was typically on the back of the car!

Brandons Christmas present!

Eric picked up a Christmas present for Brandon! The Howard/Finch/Watt/Sinon group had 2 roofs for sale! Eric bought the 4 roof of Duane Howards car! Ryan Watt made the exchange! The other roof was from the 60 over that Doug Hoffman ran at the sixer! He also had the hood scoop for sale off Duanes car! Pretty cool! Now, Eric has to convince Andrea that he need to hang it on the basement wall! Good Luck with that!!

Grandview Flea Market

We picked up the Gary Silverman Grandview season in review DVD on this freakin' cold day! It would have been great to hang out with some beers if it was warmer! We talked to Jason for a little bit. He wasnt having much luck selling anything! Also talked to Brad, Jason's buddy, Ryan Watt, Bobby Trapper, Kyle Weiss & the Marburgers. Sounds like the Marburgers are picking up a 10.5 to 1 for next season. Jason put in a call to Chad Sinon to see if he could get any kind of deal going? The old 44 of Danny Erb was there for sale! Bill Gensler had that whole race ready hunk for sale, trailer and all for $10,500. They were serving food out of the Bailey/Meitzler trailer. Hirthlers had alot of stuff for sale. Pretty decent turn out.

Grandview Flea Market

Eric & I are headed over to the Grandview Flea Market tomorrow morning! I've got to pick up Gary Silvermans year in review DVD. He does an awesome job! Maybe we'll catch some rumor news or just have some of that tasty track food! We'll let you know how it goes!!

Captain Ron is the MAN!

I just got my copy of MOTORMANIA and I cant believe it but Captain Ron made the cover! The article talked alot about his crazed antics at Rolling Wheels! One worker at the speedway stated " That guy has determination"! Thats our Cowpatty Nation leader! Another worker said, " If you keep this up we will kick your ass out of this place". PRICELESS! If they had only known what took place in the bleachers later that nite! You really fixed them Captain Ron! You da man!

Racing? Now this gets my heart Racing!

We'll never see anything like this at Grandview! Florida...Hello Florida!

Steve has some rumor news!

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Steve has confirmed that Jeff Strunk may run Georgetown with the Vince's Towing cars?
Steve has just e-mailed thru his inside source at the Vince Gagliardo Compound (Vince's Towing) that Jeff Strunk & Vince had a private meeting this past sunday! Jeff said he was very impressed with all of the cars & motors they had and that he could easily work with what was available! Jeff also stated that he could not believe that they only had 1 top 5 all year! Jeff did mention to Vince that Norm Hansell is also interested in Jeff piloting the potent 357 machine!

Hamilton Follow-up!

This is the return e-mail I got from Jason!
Jason stated that he didnt think Doug Flurer would go with another driver, but you never know? It was a very strange deal! He has spoken to Norm about the 357 and took Jason's number and said that he would call him! Norm seemed like a grouch! That he is!! He also said that Norm didnt call Stu Friesen till April last year offering him the ride! He really never thought he would be in this position! Either did I!! On an upside he did say that " All good things do come to an end". This good thing came too soon!

Jason Hamilton

Check it out! I put up a post on SJDR and got this e-mail back from Jason! That is 1 good guy that needs a ride! Hope all works out well & we see him up front in 2009!
Jason e-mailed back thanking me for the kind words & that he has spoken with a few people and he has his fingers crossed! He feels that a got a REALLY bad deal fro Doug Flurer with no warning at all!

WELCOME MATT!

Yo Matt! Thanks for following the COWPATTY NATION Blog! Glad to see your checking it out! Hopefully I can keep it entertaining enough! I hope you dont mind that I am posting a memorable moment in your racing career! That was the nite you had the 600 modified absolutely FLYIN'! I think if you had a few more laps we would have seen you in victory lane! That was "AWESOME"!

WHO WILL IT BE???

Any guesses who will be in this car next year? Eric is going with Jason Hamilton!
