BIG DIAMOND HOSTING DIRTcar RACE!

Big Diamond to host DIRTcars
Add another highlight to the 2009 Big Diamond Raceway schedule.Barry Bashore, Buddy Biever and Dave Dissinger, who operate the Forrestville clay track, have announced the return of the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series for big-block modifieds April 26.The Sunday evening "Spring Fever" event will be 75 laps, paying $6,000 to the winner. The Super DIRTcar Series modified group - which tours New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida and Canada - has visited Big Diamond only twice in the track's 36-year history.Brett Hearn (2004) and Alan Johnson (2003) won those events, which were presented by Bob Miller and former Big Diamond promoter Fritz Roehrig.

"We're very optimistic about the show," Biever said. "The most difficult decision for us was finding an open date that didn't conflict with any of the other tracks in the area."Big Diamond follows only Hagerstown, Md., on the Super DIRTcar Series schedule. Hagerstown opens the DIRTcar tour March 28."By nature there are more drivers following the series earlier in the season," Biever said. "We're hoping that will contribute to a strong car count."Bechtelsville's Grandview Speedway will not host a DIRTcar event this season, instead opting for the national World of Outlaws late models.- Brett Deyo
