WEEKLY NOTES!

Well, it took me a while...but I wanted to throw a few comments in before the next race! What a nasty cold night it was last week at Grandview! The winds were clocking in at 40+ m.p.h.! The track was in decent shape with all things considered. Kenny did his best to eliminate the ruts and create a top and bottom racing surface! I thought we were in some trouble when the front-stretch lights went out! Kenny scaled that fence in no time to check it out! Duane Howard seemed to be the class of the field winning his heat from the 8th starting position, thus putting him on the pole with the heads-up start. Desantis-Reimert & CVD all looked good winning their respective heats. Mike Gular looked very impressive as did Shawn Reimert. Shawn had a shock tower break after a skirmish with Meme Desantis bringing a sure top 5 finish to an end. Jeff Strunk in his "Red Rocket" looked equally good coming from 15th to finish 4th. Danny Erb ran a hellava race bringing home a 6th place in the Banos brothers #44. John Willman capped off a great night with the "Hard Charger award" coming from dead last 28th to finish 9th!

There were a ton of cautions during the feature that left as I can remember only 14 cars running as the checkered flag fell! WOW, what a battle of attrition! Duane Howard had the field covered winning his 4th opener in a row! Duane stated, "the wind really didnt effect the car at all on the track" after being asked by Pete Knappenberger in victory lane. Brian Shuey captured the Late Model feature in rocket like fashion!

We were missing Captain Ron & "Mr. Modified" Steve this week as Ron did his husbandly duty and took the wife to Atlantic City for their anniversary! I think it may have been just tooo cold for Steve and he had a home project going on too! Fire Marshall Doug watched from the infield home-stretch awaiting a fire so he could stay warm...no luck! Finally had a chance to meet Scott Hoffmaster in our travels. Heckava nice guy! Scott is Greg Hoffmasters (late model driver) son who is a true Cowpatty follower! Scott did a nice job putting together the Coventry Mall race show this winter! Eric & I roughed it out in the stands! Man, had to drink those beers down quick, hard to hang onto! We traveled pitside after the race only to find practically no one left!! I cant blame the teams for getting out of there on a night like that!

Till next week...keep on Cowpattying!
