THUNDER ON THE HILL!


STEVE SMITH NAMED LIVING LEGEND GUEST OF HONOR FORTHUNDER SERIES OPENER ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT, MAY 20The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series presented by LeeMyles Transmissions will kick off its' twentieth season at the one-thirdmile Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA on Wednesday night, May20. In celebration of the twentieth anniversary season, Steve Smithwill be on hand as the Thunder on the Hill Living Legend Guest of Honor.Smith of Hanover, PA won the inaugural Thunder Series event featuringthe 410 sprint cars on August 7, 1990. Steve Smith has won 266sprint car victories with 150 of those wins taking place at the LincolnSpeedway along with three World of Outlaw "A" Main wins, three World ofOutlaw Preliminary wins and seventeen All Star Circuit of Championsfeature wins. Smith returned to Grandview Speedway in 1991 and scoredhis second Thunder on the Hill Racing Series event, winning two of thefirst three Thunder Series shows presented. Smith will be on hand forinterviews and a meet and greet with fans on Wednesday night, May 20.
The 2009 Thunder Series opener will feature the Keystone Cup 410 SprintSeries along with the 358 Modifieds. The 410 sprints will compete intime trials a series of qualifying events and a 35 lap feature. The358 Modifieds is an open competition event that will offer heat racequalifying and a 25 lap feature event.An all star field of drivers will fill the Grandview Speedway pits toinclude Fred Rahmer, Lance Dewease, Todd Shaffer, Stevie Smith, and GregHodnett. In the modified ranks look for Doug Manmiller, Duane Howard,Craig VonDohren, Jeff Strunk, Doug Hoffman and Kevin Hirthler to make-upthe class of the field. Advance tickets for the May 20 Keystone Cup410 Sprint Speed Week Series and 358 Modifieds Double-header are on saleat this time. Adult tickets are $20, Children 6-11 are $5 and Childrenunder 6 will be admitted for Free. The pit fee is $25 and a licenseis not required.
