SPEED AT POCONO

I want to give thanks to Bruce Thomas yesterday as he was at Pocono and spoke to this girl who was announcing a pre-race show for the Speed Channel. Bruce was sporting his Cowpatty Nation shirt and she noticed the shirt and mentioned it on the show. She also mentioned she will check out the site! He was not sure if the program would be televised? Hey, you never know? Also a cool shot of pole sitter Tony Stewart.

NAME THIS DRIVER?

Can you name this driver? I am not really sure who it is? I thought it might be Duane Howard, but not really sure? (S.Yerger photo/courtesy 3-Wide)

CHARLIE & WILL

Great picture sent by Charlie Langenstein of himself and Will Cagle at the Hendrick Motorsports shop. Wily veteran Will Cagle is still strapping on the helmet and tightening up the belts! Will recently ran the legends million race in Charlotte and brought home a 3rd place finish while pocketing a cool $20G's! Not too shabby for a guy in his 70's. Ironton phone company was a big supporter in Will's effort at Charlotte.

The New GM (Government Motors)Proudly IntroducesThe 2011 ObummerThis car runs on hot air, bull-shit and broken promises. It has three wheels that speed the vehicle through tight left turns. It comes complete with two Tele Prompters programmed to help the occupants talk their way out of any violations. The transparent canopy reveals the plastic smiles still on the faces of all the happy owners. Comes in S, M, L, XL and 2XL It won't get you to work, but hey, there aren't any jobs anyway!

THE BIG 3!

Here is a great shot from our newest contributing photographer Fred George. The BIG 3 consisting of Jeff Strunk, Craig Von Dohren and Duane Howard run nose to tail through turns 3 and 4 at Grandview Speedway. KEEP MIKE ERB IN YOUR PRAYERS!

Want to put a rest to some of the rumors. Mike had a scheduled AAA surgery on June 30th. Was in surgery for 7 1/2 hrs. He was on life support following surgery for 8 days and then came off of it. He is still on oxyen to help build his lungs back up and he is on daily dialysis because his kidneys are not working yet. He is still in Intensive Care Unit at the Reading Hospital. He knows his family and has started to talk some. He is still confused, as a lot of people are after a lengthy surgery and spend alot of time in ICU. The team of doctors working with him do expect a full recovery. We are praying for the same. It is just going to take awhile. Gods Will and Gods Time. Thank you for all the concerns, prayers and well wishes. I keep a log so when he is better he can see how many people truly care. The racing community is an AWESOME thing to be a part of. Keep the prayers coming. The Erb Family

YOU ARE IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS MIKE!

GRANDVIEW...RAINED OUT!

RAIN WASHES OUT RACING ACTION AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA July 10, 2010 . . . Heavy rains in the morning, overly wet grounds, and rain continuing in the afternoon forced promoter Bruce Rogers to cancel the 3 Starz Landscaping Night stock car racing action at NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway on Saturday.

The doubleheader show would have featured the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Late Model stock cars.

“Actually the rain was a good thing, though we would have preferred to have it on a different day,” said Rogers. “There is no denying we have needed rain for a while so despite losing one of our events we really did welcome the rain.”

Racing action returns to Grandview Speedway on Wednesday, July 14th when the traveling Race of Champions Dirt DART Modifieds will be featured in a 60-lap feature race with several of the top Grandview racers planning to compete. BPG Racing has added $1,000 to the purse bringing the first place money for the Modified feature to $5,000. In addition there will be a 40-lap feature for the Race of Champions Sportsman. Racing gets the green flag at 7:30 p.m.

FIREWORKS...

Cool pic snapped by Brent Smith of fireworks and Kory Fleming's late model at Grandview saturday night. It was good talking with the #39 Smith team and thanks for mounting those "CPN" stickers. Lookin' good! I also want to thank Duane Howard for sportin' his Cowpatty shirt saturday! Hey, I didn't mean to give you a hard time about wearing it, but I am glad to see it made it to the top of the pile!! Thanks!
