Washington Elementary has a student who has been battling brain cancer for over two years. He has recently suffered a stroke and multiple seizures. His cancer is now advancing and another tumor was found in the frontal lobe. He was at CHOP for over 40 days but has recently come home to be with his family. All he wants to do is come to school to be with his friends and pretend his life is normal. We were told he would not be able to return, but through the grace of God and the tremendous support of his family he has been able to return for a few hours a couple of days a week. We are looking to make the last part of his journey a little easier on his family & to ease their financial burden. His mother quit her job to take care of him full time. His father, a volunteer fireman, had to take a medical leave of absence from his regular job this past summer due to having open-heart surgery. He has returned to work but is still unable to lift his son in and out of his wheelchair.
On Tuesday, October 26th, Red Hills Tavern in Gilbertsville has graciously offered to donate 10 % of their total sales for the entire day to this family. It’s $5.00 Burger Night which includes any of their specialty burgers & fries. It also includes all take-out orders.
Please consider joining us to support this family in their time of need and enjoy a Happy Hour and/or a nice dinner out. We thank you for your support and your prayers.
