BECHTELSVILLE, PA February 17, 2011 . . . Three time Grandview Speedway NASCAR Late Model champion Brian Shuey will not be racing for a fourth title in 2011.
“I plan to start the season running the April 2nd opener at Grandview.” said the Shoemakersville, PA resident who would have been going for a third straight title, “After that our plans are pretty much up in the air as far as Grandview goes. We may run as many as six events during the season.”
Shuey’s championship car owners, Dave and Charlotte Eyrich, are taking a year off from the sport and that left him without a ride at Grandview. With no offers of another ride at the NASCAR sanctioned one-third-mile, banked clay oval Shuey was left with nothing.
“I was just able to put something together in the last few days,” said the popular Late Model racer. “I will be running with a team that has Ed Powell and Jesse Willman involved. We plan to run unlimited late model events throughout Central Pennsylvania with some stops at Grandview from time-to-time including the Firecracker 40 in July.”
Shuey did want to run for a third straight title at Grandview and his fourth overall but he just could not make it happened. He is disappointed at not going for a fourth Grandview title but optimistic that his new ride will introduce him to new challenges and successes.
