HOMETOWN BOY JEFF STRUNK WINS $50,000 PLUS BPG RACING FREEDOM 76 AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 16, 2012 . . . Holding off some of the best talents in dirt track modified stock car racing Jeff Strunk, the nine time 358 modified champion, was able to drive the Norm Hansell owned Norn’s Save Station No. 357 to victory in the $50,000 to win BPG Racing Freedom 76 at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night.
Taking the lead for the final time on the 61st lap of the 76 lap 358 Modified race Strunk was able to hold the top spot down to the checkered flag giving the Pottstown resident the richest victory of his long career and it happened in front of a huge crowd filling the grandstands.
Bobby Varin made the strongest threat in the closing laps to grab the top spot but had to settle for second followed by Bill Decker, Stewart Friesen and Matt Sheppard.
Bill Pauch took home $1500 for his win in the Mertz Flying Mullet Cash Dash.
Jared Umbenhauer, the track Sportsman champion, was able to win the 20-lap Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20.
Eighty two Modifieds took part in the BPG Racing Freedom 76 activities.
