JEFF STRUNK GETS NASCAR MODIFIED WIN OF THE SEASON AT
GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY, SEAN MERKEL WINS FOR FOURTH TIME AND BRAD BRIGHTBILL
WAS TOPS FOR FIRST SPORTSMAN WIN
Bechtelsville, PA September 1, 2013 . . . Nine time NASCAR
Whelen 358 Modified track champion Jeff Strunk was able to win his first
30-lap NASCAR Modified feature race of the season at Grandview Speedway
on Saturday night. Sean Merkel took the honors for the fourth time in
the Late Models while Brad Brightbill won his first Sportsman feature of
the season.
Rookie Andy Ressler set the pace for 14
laps in the Modified feature race before Jon Kellner Sr was able to go
to the front and lead the pack until the 22nd lap when Strunk
charged to the front and led the rest of the way to pick up his $2750
first place money. Second went to Duane Howard coming from 17th starting spot. Craig VonDohren grabbed third after starting in 22nd spot followed by Jon Kellner Sr. and Ray Swinehart.
The 25-lap Late Model feature
had Sean Merkel leading every lap to get his fourth win of the season.
Sam Schlosberg challenged but settled for second followed by Danny
Snyder, Chuck Schutz and Wayne Pfeil.
Erik Renninger was the early
leader in the 25-lap Sportsman feature race with Ryan Lilick gaining the
top spot on the third lap and leading through the 22nd lap when Brad Brightbill made a strong move to squeeze by the leader in the first turn to get the top spot on the 23rd
lap and go on to win. Second went to Lilick for his best effort of the
season followed by Brett Kressley, Jared Umbenhauer and Guy Germano.
The final point races for the 2013 season take place Saturday, September 7th, the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman are in action starting at 7:30 p.m.
