Austin
Langenstein and the #7 Cray Motorsports team traveled up to Wall Township N.J
for the 40th annual Turkey Derby event at Wall Stadium Speedway on 11/29/13 for
the final event of 2013. Austin would unload out of the trailer fast and post
the fastest time in the first round of practice and back it up it up with the
second fastest time in the final round of practice out of the stout 41 car
field. Austin would not get the qualifying lap he wanted due to struggling to
get temps in the tires during the 2 lap qualifying session in the cold N.J temps
but would rebound and finish 2nd in the heat race after starting in the 3rd
position and locking into the 28 car main event field! During the main event
Austin would be running around the top 10 and moving forward while also saving
his equipment and being patient until a big wreck in front of him and Austin
would get collected. Austin would come into the pits for the #7 crew to survey
the front and rear damage, the crew would notice a small hole in the oil cooler
and fix it the best they could during the yellow flag, Austin would go back out
on the track as the field went back racing but Austin would ultimately have to
retire the #7 car for the night due to loosing oil pressure and a oil leak two
laps later. Due to Austin's race finishing around the half way point Austin
would end up finishing in the 22nd position. After the race Austin said- "Man
that's a tough way to end the season, but you will have these days, there was
just no where for me to go. I saw the wreck and checked up but got hit from
behind, I didn't think the damage was that bad but it got the oil coolers and we
lost oil pressure. I can't wait until January to go racing again!" Austin's next
race will be at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in early January, until then Austin
will continue training for the CrossFit Games Open and work in the Cray
Motorsports shop. Austin would like to say a massive Thank You to -Cray Motorsports,
