Austin Langenstein and the #7 Cray Motorsports team were back in action
on Monday and Tuesday night's for the Summer Shootout series at
Charlotte
Motor Speedway. On Monday night for Rd.1 of the double header season
open Austin would start the main event from the 10th position in the
strong 28 car field. Austin would work his way up through the 30 lap
main event and get to the 4th position where he would run on the final
restart with 3 laps togo, on the restart Austin would drop back to 7th
position where he would end up due to restating on the outside lane. On
Tuesday Austin would qualify 4th for the main event when the skies would
open up causing a hour red flag due to severe storms in the Concord N.C
area. The storms would move on but the rain stayed and Austin would
take the green flag on the wet race track and quickly move up to the 2nd
spot. Austin and the #20 car would drive away from the field and swap
the lead back and fourth several times when there would be a late yellow
flag. Austin would restart from the lead on the green white checkerd
and Austin would lead when the field of 28 cars
took the white flag until going in to turn 1 on the final lap the 20
car running 2nd would dump Austin dropping him to his 15th place finish.
After the race Austin said-" I'm really frustrated, we had the car to
win and it was in sight. I will be back next week for the trophy.'' The
Cray team will be back at the track for rd.3 on next Tuesday night!
