Coatesville, PA – June 11, 2016 –
Hot. That’s what the weather was on Saturday but that is what this time
of year brings. The G & H Motorsports team loaded the #46 NASCAR BRC
Grandview Speedway Dirt Late Model and headed to the track. The team
was pleased to see Lou Egrie IV able to return to the pits after
suffering a concussion in a racing accident. Although he is unable to
drive his #4e late model he is able to help his dad Lou Egrie #X4 late
model....Welome back Louie!
Heat Race
The way the line-ups are decided is
through a point average so the handicap had Dan scheduled to start 6th
in the 1st 8 lap heat. Rookie Eric Hoch #00 was scheduled to start on
the pole but chose to start in the rear which moved Dan to 5th. During
the week the team wanted to try a new set-up and with the drop of the
green the car didn’t react the way Dan thought it was going to. After a
lap of green flag racing Dan adjusted to the way the car was handling
and was just as fast as the front runners. The race went green for the
entire 8 laps but Dave Ogin #31 was able to pass Dan on that first lap
so the #46 crossed the line in 6th.
Team goes to work
As Dan’s boys, Gavin and Austin were in the stands cheering him on, the team of Scott Green, Jim Alexander, Michael Wynne, Cathy Green and Brett Higginbotham prepared the LAZER X Chassis #46 for the feature. Debbie Dutter and Jennifer O’Shea were also in the stands keeping an eye on the boys and watching Dan on the track. The team had a special member on Saturday night as Linda Bechell made her first trip to a race track since the passing of her companion Bruce Thomas on May 6th.

Feature Event
Starting 9th in the 25 lap Feature
event Dan took the green and immediately had to make evasive maneuvers
as pole sitter Shawn Horning #8m spun in front of the field. Both Dan
and Wayne Pfiel #72 had to dive into the infield and Dan’s motor stalled
so he ended up stopping. Due to the fact that they both went into the
infield the officials determined that they were involved in the accident
and were sent to the rear for the restart. So after a couple more tries
at getting the race going it finally stayed green with Dan moving
forward tracking the lead pack down. Dan had a very spirited battle for
7th with Bryan Sipe #33s for 7 laps before Dan did a slide job to take
the spot and held on for the last 5 laps. Finishing 7th dropped Dan to
4th in points from 2nd, but the points are so close that each position
will change weekly.
