Coatesville, PA – June 22, 2017 – The excitement of the
team heading into the 9th Annual Appalachian Mountain Speedweeks kept
everyone on their toes working hard to keep Dan Green competitive in the
new Super environment. The crew traveled to 5 of the 7 tracks in the
series. We were able to step up and represent our sponsors in different
areas and met a lot of racing fans along the way. The teams we raced with were some of the best Super Late Model teams in the Northeast.
Dan raced the #46 to a 25th overall finish against 86 other competitors in the series!
That is a definite success for a 1st year competitor in the series and also puts Dan and the car in a calendar for 2018!! That will be great exposure for all our sponsors!
Williams Grove Speedway, Friday June 9!
The
Fast ½ mile of Williams Grove Speedway was the next stop for the AMSOIL
#46 Super Late Model. The same format that was implemented for the AMS
continued at Williams Grove as Dan Time Trialed with the group he ran
his heat race with. Dan ran all 10 laps and got much needed track time
in the car. Dan started 21st in the 24 car 40 lap Feature
Event. During an early race caution Dan made a quick stop in the pits to
make an adjustment to the air cleaner and returned to finish the race.
After the race was finished the team found that the left side headers
had cracked and needed to be replaced before the next race. Rick Eckert
#7 won the Feature as Dan finished a respectable 17th in his
first trip to the historic track. On a side note, Dan’s grandfather
raced at Williams Grove over 50 years ago and it ended up being his
favorite track.
Selinsgrove Speedway, Saturday June 10!
The
G & H Motorsports team again had no garage to work on the ACE
Hardware #46 as the team stayed at a family members house between
Williams Grove and Selinsgrove to save time. The team parked at a mall
and replaced the broken headers and went over the car to be race ready
for the final AMS race at Selinsgrove Speedway. After warm-ups and a
quick adjustment, the team was ready for Time Trials but it seems that
the timing system wasn’t ready for the racing program. Plan “B” went
into effect as the Late Model teams were lined up from the pill draw
earlier in the day. Dan finished 7th in his heat and 7th
in the B-Main just missing out on qualifying for the A-Main. Jeff Rine
#2J drove to the victory and the AMS Championship, as we congratulate
his team on a great Speedweeks!!
Thank you to the organizers, tracks and officials of the Appalachian Mountain Speedweeks it will be on our 2018 schedule for sure!!
Next Stop Georgetown Speedway!
Sunday July 2nd
the G & H Motorsports team headed by Dan are off to Georgetown
Speedway in Georgetown, Delaware for the ‘Independence Day Summer
Classic’. Port Royal Speedway is next on Saturday July 8th and a quick turnaround for Bridgeport (NJ) Speedway on Tuesday July 11.
New Car!
This
past Saturday, Dan and a couple G & H Team members headed to
Bernheisel Race Components in Jonestown, PA to finish and pick up the
2017 LAZER X Chassis that is replacing the one that was crashed at Port
Royal a few weeks back. The team decided to change things up just a
little by going from mostly white to mostly grey body with a black nose.
It’s a sharp look and we cannot wait to see it on the track for the
first time!
