Coatesville, PA – July 15, 2017 – After
a couple weeks off from racing, Dan Green and the G & H Motorsports
team travelled the 2 plus hours to Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown,
DE. During the 2 weeks the team prepared a new 2017 LAZER X chassis by
installing the Super Late Model motor from the older LAZER X chassis.
Also during the time off it was decided that the team will put the
Limited equipment up for sale so Dan and the team can concentrate on the
Super Late Model class.
Georgetown Speedway, Sunday July 2nd!
The Brett Deyo promoted, historic special event track had 4 classes scheduled to take part in an ‘Independence Day Summer Classic’.
The Super Late Models headlined the show and the G & H Motorsports
team was very excited to see the new chassis on the track! Dan brought
the car in after warm-ups and was very happy with how the car worked
right out of the box. With little time to make any changes Dan lined up
for his Time Trial laps. As Dan took the white flag on the 3 lap timed
laps the motor shut off. The team
inspected under the hood and found that the drive belt for the dry sump
system broke and the automatic shutoff kicked in, shutting down the
motor. In the pits there was a discussion about putting another belt on
and continuing the night but it was decided that it was in the team’s
best interest to check the engine for damage before running again. The
possibility of a catastrophic failure outweighed the minimal cost of
doing a check of any damage that might have happened when the belt came
off. As disappointed as Dan and the team were, we stayed and watched the
rest of the show and thank Brett Deyo, his staff and the great fans of
Georgetown Speedway for the warm welcome and support.
Port Royal Speedway, Saturday July 8!
Port
Royal Speedway was to be the next stop for the #46 Linda’s Hair
Techniques Super Late Model but with the motor repairs needed from
Georgetown Speedway we were unable to participate in the Moon Shine Camo
Rt. 35 Challenge Series for the Late Models.
Bridgeport Speedway, Tuesday July 11!
New Jersey’s Bridgeport Speedway had their only 2017 appearance for Late Models with their “Three for All” event on July 11th.
With the #46 Super motor repaired, Dan and Scott loaded the car in the
trailer and, after a slight delay heading to the track, pulled into the
pits at the speedway and prepared for the night as other team members
arrived at the track after their work. The night went much better than
other nights as there was only one minor issue when Dan tried to start
the car to line up for his heat race. Thanks to Jim Bernheisel for
quickly driving his quad over and pushing Dan to get the car started! It
was determined that a wire disconnected from the starter and after that
was fixed the team had a good night. Dan had the 7th fastest lap of the 10 cars he was in the heat with and the 14th
fastest of the 20 cars at the track. The 8 lap Heat race had Dan getting
much needed track time in the new chassis as he started 7th and moved
forward to finish 5th. The feature was another story as halfway through
the scheduled 25 laps the power steering broke and Dan had to drive
without power steering the rest of the way. Starting 9th falling back to 12th at one point to come back to finish 9th
while manhandling the car half the time had Dan completely worn out and
the team very proud of how he could drive the car to the finish.
Next Stop Selinsgrove Speedway!
Saturday July 22nd
at Selinsgrove Speedway is the next scheduled race for the G & H
Motorsports, Dan Green #46 Hot Rod Processing Super Late Model.
Schedule!
The
rest of the 2017 Schedule is being reviewed as the team has made some
changes regarding the Limited car, please keep an eye on our Facebook
page and website for places and time of where Dan and the team will be.
Friends Racing At Other Tracks!
Todd Lapp had his KLH Vintage car at Grandview Speedway on Saturday July 8 and drove to a 3rd place feature finish! Look for him to be on the track again Sunday July 16th. Good luck Todd and team PB! Todd also picked up a new sponsor - welcome to the racing scene Eagle Equipment!
Joe
"Geezer" Fanelli ran his #22 NASCAR 358 Modified at Grandview as he
does every week and had a very much needed full night of racing where he
qualified for the feature thru his heat race and then ran the entire
feature without any issues. It has been an up and down 1st year for Geezer as he is learning this competitive class and has had his share of parts failures the last few weeks. This week gave him and the team a boost forward! Good luck to the 22 team!
